The West Pilbara Volunteer Sea Search and Rescue Group
operate from Dampier, Western Australia providing sea search and rescue services
to the boating public. We are a member of Volunteer Marine Rescue of Western
Australia
Our History
The WPVSSRG was formed
in 1974 by a small group of the Dampier boating fraternity, and was incorporated
in 1976. Since then the group has grown to over 40 members providing a 24/7
on call roster for rescue operations.
Group
Location
The group base is situated at the Hampton Harbour Boat &
Sailing Club in Dampier. This is an ideal position for the launching and control
of rescue operations.
Our Rescue
Vessels
West Pilbara Volunteer Sea Search & Rescue Group
operates two dedicated rescue craft, the 'North West Shelf Venturer' and the
'Captain Neilsen'.
Radio
Operation
The group has extensive marine radio equipment with 27MHz,
VHF and HF radios including radio direction finding equipment and base
station facilities.
Rescues
The search & rescue
service provided by WPVSSRG is available to any member of the public free of
charge and our crews are made up of local volunteers dedicated to providing a
professional service to the boating public.
Training
Appropriate training is
provided for Group Members with training days held each month. The group also
offers training courses in Marine Radio operation to the general
public.

To maintain the
excellent community service provided by the West Pilbara Volunteer Sea
Search & Rescue Group, we need dedicated volunteers like you! We have
members from all walks of life, members who own boats and some who do not. You
are welcome to join us as a member or to support us with a tax deductable
donation.
